BeerStat App
Posted by PrettyBOY at 5/03/2011 04:20:00 PMIt’s probably not much of a secret that we enjoy beer. Heck, we’ve featured ways to transport a sixer on your bike, how you can wash yourself with soap made of beer and more bottle openers than you could even fit in your kitchen. We’re not even 100% sure if this isn’t the first sign of having a problem. Now, rarely do we go out and actually spend money on apps – we immediately look at the highest rated freebies - but in the case of BeerStat we’ll gladly shell out one hard-earned (debatable) dollar. BeerStat basically keeps tabs on your tabs – How much you’ve spent, how many calories you’ve consumed, how much do you average on a day-to-day basis, etc. Come on, you can spare one bartender tip for this wealth of information. $1

WALdok - Dope!
Posted by PrettyBOY at 3/07/2011 09:54:00 AMWiring a speaker system through your house is expensive and blasting your iPod speaker unit so loud you can hear it throughout the house could get you a swift noise violation courtesy of a cranky old neighbor. A smarter way to traverse your pad and bring your music along is the WALdok. Just plug in the WALdok and it both charges and amplifies your music while taking up just a little wall space. And, since we’re fans of multifunctional items, we kinda dig that it also has an internal battery so you can use it as a desk top speaker. With the WALdok if you’ve got The King of Limbs going on your iPhone, iPod or Nano and you realize you need to shave cause you’ve been neglecting your hygiene related duties while you’ve attempted to form an opinion on the ultra-mellow album, you can just bring it with you. $59

Verizon iPhone 4 goes the CDMA way with an antenna redesign
Posted by PrettyBOY at 1/12/2011 11:16:00 AMTurns out the expected Verizon's big announcement today is all about the CDMA iPhone 4. Apple's latest gadget has the same specs as its GSM sibling (sorry guys, no LTE) and will hit the Verizon's US network on 10 February.
The CDMA iPhone 4 has been finally unveiled at the Verizon's press-conference. It won't be exclusive to Verizon only, but it's the first CDMA carrier to offer it.
The CDMA iPhone 4 has the same specs as its GSM-version - the Retina display, 1GHz Apple A4 processor, 512MB RAM, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p video recording, 16GB or 32GB internal storage and various connectivity options. There won't be LTE support.
The one thing that's changed for sure is the antenna - it's re-designed to work with CDMA networks and is divided into slightly different parts. The volume keys are also a wee bit offset so that may turn a bummer with tightly cut full-body cases.
The iPhone 4 won't be able to do voice and date simultaneously (a CDMA network limitation), but Verizon's CDMA development team promises to fix that in the upcoming months. Verizon claims its 3G network is great and the iPhone 4 will take full advantage of it.
Since this one doesn't have the SIM card slot seen on the last week's leaked pictures of the iPhone spare parts so perhaps these are either fake or they really represent the next-gen iPhone 5.
Verizon will offer the iPhone 4 on contract for $199 (16GB) and $299 (32GB). The contracts include use for a new iOS feature called Personal Hotspot. It's an expanded way of tethering other devices to use your phone's 3G connection. In addition to offering connection over USB and Bluetooth, the new Personal Hotspot creates a Wi-Fi access point too.
For what it's worth, the Verizon iPhone 4 runs a yet unseen version of Apple's iOS, called iOS 4.2.5. Perhaps the Personal Hotspot option is part of it and we may see it on all other iOS devices in the future.
The exclusive pre-orders for existing Verizon customers start on 3 February, while it will become available in every Verizon store on 10 February.

SlickWraps Board Series Black Grip Tape iPhone 4 Wrap
Posted by PrettyBOY at 1/10/2011 10:06:00 AMSlickWraps applies a literal skate deck inspiration to an iPhone 4 case with their Board Series Black Grip Tape wrap. The backside of the case features grip tape while the front side is comprised of a wood grain vinyl wrap. Since it’s a wrap, it won’t add too much extra thickness to your phone however you’ll probably err on the side of caution with the grip tape side. Available now for the retail price of $20 USD here.

A Laptop so Minimal, it actually hides!
Posted by PrettyBOY at 1/06/2011 03:58:00 PMIf you thought Apple couldn’t possible simplify the aesthetics of the MacBook Pro line any further, take a look at the HIDE laptop. The ultra minimalist design hides all ports when closed. Aside from the small hinge and indentation to help lift the cover, it just looks like a solid aluminum block. It’s naive and utilitarian. I really like it.

Visualized: Apple's finest products destroyed in the name of art
Posted by PrettyBOY at 12/23/2010 09:39:00 AMWhat happens when you burn an iPad? Take a sledgehammer to an iPhone 4? Leave a stack of iPod nanos on the train tracks? Shoot a iPhone 3GS with a 9MM handgun? Carve up a Magic Mouse into sushi-sized chunks? Artist (and former Apple graphics designer) Michael Tompert strove for the beautiful, horrific truth.

Djay App
Posted by PrettyBOY at 12/04/2010 08:32:00 PMThe iPad’s 9.7 inch display offers one of the more unique user interfaces around for app designers. German software developers Algoriddim have taken full advantage of that functionality turning your iPad screen into a virtual turntable set. Complete with two decks, crossfader, individual channel mixers, volume controls, pitch blend sliders, and automix capability the Djay app from Algoriddim smoothly transitions the vinyl scratching sound of turntables into the virtual realm. For a set price of $20 anyone can enjoy the novelty of a disk jockey.

iPad 2 (2nd Generation) Release Date and Specs Leaked: Camera Revealed
Posted by PrettyBOY at 11/19/2010 11:44:00 AMThe iPad 2 is rumored to be released in the market this coming holiday seasons. Traditionally, Apple has its products in the market for around one year before coming up with an update. But this time things are going differently. Apple might have the feeling that it needs to upgrade the iPad without waiting for the 12-month cycle especially at this time where a lot of manufacturers are getting into the tablet market and tries to come up with a tablet that could surpass the quality and features offered by the iPad.
According to a newspaper, the iPad 2 is already on the advanced testing stage and is being assembled by a Taiwanese company named Chimei Innolux, which has won a number of contracts for the iPad2. Some rumors say that the upcoming iPad2 will be sporting a smaller display screen, which is around 7 inches only in order to make it more competitive when it comes to price and compete with the Amazon Kindle in terms of size and price point.
Some reports also revealed that its touchscreen technology will be coming from Cando Corporation. Compal Electronics was also rumored to be the one to assemble the iPad 2. However, neither one of these companies made a confirmation that the rumors are true and that they are currently working on the iPad 2.
The iPad 2 is expected to have the same aluminum back, same bezel, similar weight as well as battery life. In addition to this, the IPS technology featured in the current iPad will also be included in this next generation iPad device.
Basically the new iPad 2 is believed to come up with the following changes:
- New screen resolution
- Inclusion of Apple’s FaceTime
- A new form factor
As mentioned earlier, Apple is targeting the release of the iPad 2 this holiday seasons, which seems to be a very ideal time for its release. Price is also expected to be more competitive since they target more potential customers as well. As Steve Jobs loves to say recently. ”We’re releasing the next iPad today before our competitors have even caught up with the first generation.” What a brilliant plan isn’t it?
