As most of you know, there are many different types of suspension on the market available today which allow you to adjust your vehicle's ride height from inside the cabin. With this description of the product, one type of suspension comes to mind, air bag suspension. Having the ability to raise or lower the height of the car is one of the great advantages air suspension has over traditional coil-over suspensions, however there are some major faults to running air suspension.
What makes the Phantom Cup Kit different from our competitors products?
With bag type suspensions, there always is a possibility that the bags will tear, which causes leaks in the suspension. The bags may also burst, if used incorrectly, causing major damage to the car. When the bag bursts, or is torn, your car will leave you stranded because it is no longer operational, forcing you to call a tow truck for assistance.
The cups used in the Phantom Cup Kit are made of high grade T6061 aluminum. If in any way the cup kit malfunctions, your vehicle will still be fully operational, unlike vehicles using air suspension. The Phantom Cup Kit incorporates a coil-over, with the cup sitting on top of the spring. An added plus to riding on our Phantom Cup Kit is the ability to drive with the cups filled up with air, while still maintaining a smooth ride.
Our cup kit is made from a solid T6061 aluminum housing to prevent any deformation and warping. The cups that we have designed house a total of four solid O-rings to provide an air tight chamber. Our unique tank that comes included in the kit is a sleek and compact T6061 billet aluminum tank which helps create ease if chosen to mount in a concealed areas. The lines and fittings that come in the kit can withhold 1000 pounds of pressure. Switches which are also included in our kit come with a trigger which instantly starts the compressor, instead of making you wait for the compressor to start building up air when the air tank goes empty.
The concept of how the Phantom Cup Kit works is fairly simple. The use of coilovers is necessary. Why, you may ask? Our top hat increases the height by two extra inches, so we have to adjust the coilovers down two inches to offset the height increase. With the cup kit installed, dampening is still adjustable on the coilovers.
Applications for the Phantom Cup Kit are endless. With some vehicles, the rear suspension components may need some custom fabrication done. At Platinum VIP we also offer custom fabrication, so you do not need to worry at all.
