And again... you must be thinking that I'm a one trick pony here huh? The result is very different though as I'm using the barrier on the right to lead the eye to the focal point of the car. And before you ask, this was already released as a desktop. You'll just need to dig around to find it.

S T A N C E. - Audi Quattro Concept

To know Audi’s Quattro Concept, you have to recall the original Audi Quattro (a.k.a.”Ur-Quattro”) from 1980. Launched 30 years ago, the two-door coupe was the first sports car to feature the automaker’s new Quattro all-wheel-drive system. With a turbocharged 2.1-liter inline five-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the original 200-horsepower street variant was good for a 0-60 sprint of around seven seconds and a top speed of 137 mph. Rally-prepared, and with hundreds of additional horses under the hood, the Audi Quattro was unstoppable, dominating the Group B class in rally competitions around the world for years.

Commemorating the success of the legendary Audi Quattro, the engineers and designers at Audi set out to develop a modern interpretation – an homage – to the classic. Their efforts were unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.

The urban oasis

It was once thought that those who lived in urban environments had to live in lush penthouses to get a comfortable and sophisticated home in the city. With the onset popularity of urban lofts, the desire to live in industrial and chic decor will continue next year. Softer textiles may be brought in to soften hard finishes, while those that enjoy the exposed materials will still enjoy urban living at its finest.

I had Mochi for the first time on my bday - Interesting, kinda liked it!

Mochi ice cream is a Japanese confection made from mochi (pounded sticky rice) with an ice cream filling.

Originally created by Lotte, as Yukimi Daifuku in 1981, the company first made the product by using a rice starch instead of sticky rice and a type of ice milk instead of real ice cream.  Mochi ice cream is now an internationally recognized food. Current marketing names include Mikawaya's "Mochi Ice Cream" in the United States (also used by other companies), which began production of what is now known as mochi ice cream in the United States in 1993.

6 Simple Tips For Sushi On a budget

If your desire for sushi is as strong as mine, but you are trying to keep costs down, recession friendly sushi isn’t that hard to find. While I could eat sushi every day, not only is it impractical, but I would quickly reduce my nest egg to a scramble. But I am usually able to satisfy my sushi craving and remain within my budget by observing a set of guidelines that I was prompted to share. Sushi is great food and a healthful treat, so there is no reason why a person should not be able to enjoy it on a regular basis. By keeping the following tips in mind, you should be able to enjoy it more often than you realize without breaking your budget.

1. Avoid the fancy house rolls
House rolls tend to be mixes of a lot of things, and the more items they pile on, the more expensive the item is. While one or two huge rolls may be filling, you will probably have a more nutritious and filling meal by ordering a few basic items, along with the satisfaction of variety. Often you are paying for the name of the roll rather than the food itself, and these rolls can be loaded with fillers such as panko (bread crumbs), sprouts, and other tasty yet valueless items. By ordering rolls or sushi/sashimi with items that you specifically want, not only will you spend less money, but you will get more of what you specifically want.

2. Order the sashimi platter
Fat and protein fill you up much better than carbohydrates (rice) so a nice filling meal can easily be made of the default sashimi platter, or a few choice pieces of sashimi. Restaurants will often have a sashimi platter that is a great value versus ordering sashimi items a la carte. One additional benefit of the platter is that you may end up trying items that you would never think to order and find that you enjoy them. And if you particularly dislike a certain type of fish, they will often make substitutions if you ask.

3. Drink tea with your meal
You might be tempted to try that great house wine, or the Momokowa Diamond sake, but green tea is usually offered for free, and goes well with sushi. It’s a great way to shave off a significant amount of cost from your overall bill, particularly for those who like to sip something other than water while dining. Green tea is quite good for you as well, so it’s a double benefit, you can keep to your budget and have a healthful and tasty treat too.

4. All You Can Eat
There are restaurants that offer “all you can eat” sushi buffets. They usually won’t not include the top of the line items (e.g. toro), but they will have plenty of the basics, and lots of them. I used to do this every Sunday morning at a local restaurant and always rolled away satisfied. By searching the Internet you can easily find many lists of these restaurants, so prepare yourself for a sushi feast without breaking the bank (“all you can eat” is often abbreviated “AYCE,” which may come in handy for those searches).

5. Eat more of the filler foods
Order a roll or a few pieces of sushi along with one of the many inexpensive items on the menu. Often for just a few dollars you can also have a bowl of rice, or edamame (steamed immature soybeans), soup, or some other simple yet filling food. A bowl of edamame and a salmon roll can make for a filling meal.

6. Make sushi at home
Easier said that done you may think, however making sushi at home is actually easier than you realize. While the initial learning curve may be steep, it is fun. Making sushi at home is significantly cheaper than going out to a restaurant, you would be amazed. I make sushi at home just about every month and the costs are in line with any other normal dinner expense. All you need is some sushi grade fish (I get mine from Catalina Offshore Products), and a decent guide to making sushi at home, which I have made.

Emerging Designer: Modern Industry

It’s not everyday you come across a fantastic emerging designer on popular handmade website Etsy, but we think we’ve done it. Though we of course cherish and treasure the sleek, almost-not-there-seams of some modern furniture makers, we also have a soft spot for those who show us that their work is made by their own hands.
Jacob Wener doesn’t have a lot of work in his portfolio, but the pieces we do see are coffee tables, all-purpose metal stools, tabletop accessories and more. Though we’ve seen craftsmen who work in metal and wood before, like we said, there’s just something awesome about this maker’s edges. His work just has a rough around the edges look to it, and we really like that a lot.

Check out more about this awesome craftsperson’s work and story on his Etsy store, Modern Industry.

California Faucets in PVD faucet finish - new Graphite

The new Graphite faucet collection in PVD finish by California Faucets boasts that ever-popular industrial-chic aesthetic, inspired by the season’s hottest colors for cars, accessories and electronics. Metallic is in, but in a dramatic, sophisticated gunmetal color that complements a variety of decors, from lofty and contemporary to traditional. Ensuring its looks for life, the faucet is finished using an environmentally friendly physical vapor deposition (PVD) process, which adds to its rich look while resisting wear and tear, not to mention a lifetime warranty against tarnishing. According to the company, “PVD not only infuses color by molecular bonding the finish to the faucet, it makes the faucet three to eight times harder than chrome. Rather than obscuring the metallic properties, the process highlights them, resulting in a more natural, aesthetically pleasing appearance.” Check out these fab faucets by visiting California Faucets.

Tron Light Cycle v Campbell

Iterations and iterations! If there’s one thing a tech and design writer cannot possibly ignore or resist, it’s Tron. With this brand freaking new movie Tron: Legacy out now, the folks at Disney have basically a sure shot as far as the internet crowd goes, and for the most part, everyone riding on the wave has their own shot at fifteen minutes of fame. Here’s a designer taking that opportunity to the max with some alternate Light Cycle designs made for your pleasure!

This project is simply an exercise in enjoyment with designer Wallace Campbell following what he sees as the essential elements included in a Light Cycle, bringing unto the world another iteration with super sweet bright lights and blackness, all you could ever want.

A hubless wheel system, light trail, and glowing accent lights are amongst Campbell’s self-imposed rules for the bike. Included also are a set of reality based parameters in place to bring the bike closer to a real world production. Included in this list are a windshield, side view mirrors, ecgonomical seat, and more. There is a faring on the left side of the vehicle but not the right simply in order to show off the turbine style engine.

Shower Flower!

The River Flowing System doesn’t give you the chance of wondering if you have it set to flow or tap. The design is such that the shower head is placed above a basin-esque bowl and the water flows down as a stream. Water pressure and temperature settings are controlled via a centralized knob and shower head is held into place via magnets. So basically you just turn the shower on and the water cascades down the bowl-lip, giving you the best of both the worlds!
