The Porsche 918 isn’t even here yet, and already it’s shaking in its low-profile boots.
There’s a new Enzo on the way. And it’s a hybrid.
Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo told AutoWeek that the next version of the company’s record-breaking hypercar will be a hybrid.
We’ve already seen bits of the powetrain. Montezemolo said it would borrow heavily from the 599 HY-KERS concept that made the rounds of the auto circuit last year. AutoWeek didn’t ask, but we’re hoping that means we see an F1-style boost button on the wheel. That would give the 918 something to think about.
And frankly, we’re excited at the prospect of green hypercar duel. Montezemolo pointed out that, with a reliable hybrid system, Ferrari wouldn’t need to resort to smaller engines to meet upcoming fuel economy standards. So we get to have our V8-powered cake and eat it, too.
"That's DOPE"
