This modern remodel is a remodel of post war split-level house into a comfortable living place which provides space for all everyday tasks like listing to music, catching up on e-mail, cooking, doing laundry and hanging out with family and friends. The stair was open up, the roof was raised and the fifth level was added to accommodate all activities the owner wanted to.

The interior is also done in mostly natural materials and steel. It is also is designed to be quite transparent in order to give some space for displaying art and some opportunities to catch outside views from all around the house. [DeForest Architects]

Modern Minimalist House Design in Singapore by Ong & Ong

Hands down one of my favorite condos to date!!! This place is simply AMAZING !!!
Designed by Ong & Ong, this house in Singapore is one of the greatest examples of modern and minimalist house design. Even though it’s so contemporary it also is very well balanced with nature. The concept of the design is to create open and filled with light living space which also has some privacy. The first floor has glazed walls that leads directly to the pool. This pool with a garden near by separates house for two pieces and is a perfect place to relax and spent time with friends and family. The entire second floor in the main section of the house is allocated for a master bedroom/study space with an en suite bathroom. The interior is done in minimalist style with modern materials and hidden TV and music appliances.

Modern Urban Green Loft Design – Mosler Lofts - Droool.

Modern lofts could be found in any contemporary megalopolis. Seattle is one of those cities and Mosler Lofts is a great example of the 150 loft designs located near the historically vibrant city’s center. From inside to out, the project includes a number of green features which have managed to won some prestige awards. There are as one as two-bedroom units with natural ventilation, 10-foot ceilings and windows that maximize natural light. The roof of the 12-store building is also green because it filters rainwater and provides enough space for a solar array. It’s also a beautiful gathering place. LED lights are used for a variety of exterior lighting. Everything that makes these lofts one of the first LEED-awarded condominium in Seattle. [Mithun]

Villa in Miami by Max Strang Architects, beautiful.

This home in Miami, Florida started as an outdated contemporary residence built in the 1980’s, but emerged as a modern masterpiece after a total overhaul by Max Strang Architecture. Located in Coconut Grove, Miami’s oldest neighborhood, the home is enveloped by lush tropical gardens that played a central role in the redesign. Though initially plagued by 80’s design trends such as glass block and popcorn ceilings, Strang recognized a basic modern appeal underlying the home. After stripping away the remnants of two prior remodels, new larger windows were added and arranged to create a cohesive exterior design and allow uninhibited views of the tropical foliage. The aging infrastructure was also completely revamped.

Stark, white planar surfaces prevail inside, where the homeowner displays a formidable collection of large-format photography. To further complement the collection, only northern light is allowed to enter the main living gallery. A gallery-like atmosphere pervades throughout the rest of the home with double height volumes, gray tiled floors, and glass rails on the second floor.

Hong Kong Apartment Sells for $56.5 Million - Whew!

An outsize luxury apartment in one of Hong Kong’s wealthiest neighbourhoods has sold for 439 million Hong Kong dollars ($56,5 million).

The five-bedroom duplex suite, near the top of the skyscraper overlooking Victoria Harbor, measures 6,158 sq feet and has a garden of 340 sq feet.

Hong Kong luxury home prices and sales have jumped this year as low supply and ample liquidity drive demand for real estate.

The city has long had one of the world’s most expensive property markets, with prices that many local residents are unable to afford.

Norman Foster launches his first $24 million superyacht for timeshare.

The experts believe that the fractional ownership market will be one of the first industries to recover when the economy goes on rebound. For those who have made a move toward fractional ownership, British architect Lord Norman Foster has launched his much-awaited first superyacht, the Ocean Emerald for YachtPlus. The 41-meter contemporary superyacht has been designed with a strong emphasis on space and light and has five suites for up to 12 guests, with a crew of seven. The bespoke yacht features furnishings and fittings by Italian manufacturer Cassina, and kitchen and galley equipment by Schiffini. The four-deck yacht also features jet ski storage, a submergible beach deck and a glass-walled main saloon offering 180 degrees of unrestricted views. All arrangements from bookings to transport, private jet, helicopter transfers and onboard requests will be taken care of, thereby further enhancing the ultimate experience in hospitality, service and luxury. The Ocean Emerald will be the first of four identical Foster + Partners designed superyachts to be launched by the company over the next two years. A one-eighth purchase on one of the four yachts will cost €1.87m, which will entitle the owners 30 nights a year onboard. Alternatively, those wishing to only purchase a half fraction – a 1/16th share – will pay €975K for 15 nights a year onboard. Apparently, Norman’s net worth has plummeted from £250 million to a paltry £170 million over the last year.
