When it comes to carbon fiber, Nike has not exactly stood on the sideline. They have done things like the 100% carbon fiber Mercurial Vapor SL soccer cleat and the Air Jordan XVII Carbon Fiber Sneakers. What do you do when there is a shoe Nike makes that they didn’t use carbon fiber for, and you really want it? That’s when you get in touch with up and coming shoe customizer, JBF, who is really making some waves with his latest redesign of the Nike Dunk Lows using materials like carbon fiber and Under Armor. JBF, who is from Akron, Ohio, created his latest reconstruction aptly titled “Carbon Fiber”. I will let you be the judge, but I cannot tell that these did not roll out of a Nike factory.
JBF used two shades of carbon fiber textured vinyl with brilliant green stitching and a speckled sole. For the liner of the shoe, JBF thought about all those hot summer days and made the liner out of Under Armor material for added sweat absorbing comfort. In order to obtain the sleek, just-out-of-the-factory look, JBF painstakingly unstitched the leather off the shoe and did a full overlay with the workable carbon fiber. As you know, carbon fiber is well known for its nearly indestructible strength and then you add in that sweat absorbing liner of Under Armor material and you now have one of the most functional shoes around.
