Giacometti’s Walking Man becomes the most expensive sculpture ever auctioned

The record-breaking auctioning of Giacometti sculpture at a staggering £65 million is a definitive statement about the continued quest of quality by art collectors. Originally cast in 1961 by the deceased Swiss sculptor Giacometti, the bronze sculpture L’Homme Qui Marche (Walking Man) was initially estimated to sell for $19 to $29 million. However, furious bidding at Sotheby’s led to an enormous bump in the price, which settled at £65 million, making the Walking Man the most expensive sculpture ever sold.
