When did class become "Metro?"

So anyone who has ever meet me or stopped by mi casa (my place) for the first time says similar things. Where am I from? (Columbus for the record) Are you a Metro? (Perhaps) When I ask what has prompted them to ask me that the answers are all the same...I am neat and well put together. Thanks I think...SOOOOO let's dive into this almost offensive term Metro sexuality.

First let's do a little history lesson as to where the term began. It was actually derived in the mid-nineties by marketers to describe affluent, successful and stylish men. Guys who might have a GQ magazine before Hustler (if I had magazines I'd take GQ 1st). The same guy might have expensive items for hair care, skin care and other hygienics. In fact he might have a European swag to him i.e. Armani Suits, Mont Blanc Pen, Gucci Leather Shoes complete with a Louis Vutton briefcase...The point being is the mofo was going to be classy and stylish albeit in the pricey attire. Moving forward to the point of this Blog. Just b/c a guy if dressed well doesn't make him gay or even a Metro in fact I find that this term is more commonly used in smaller mid-western cities that aren't accustom to seeing successful men dressed the part on a daily basis.

In larger cities it's the normal and expected how do you think Kanye got the nickname the Louis Vutton Don...reason if you hit the Magnificent Mile in Chicago on every corner there's Louis, Gucci, Coach, Prada and other high end fly ish. In a place like Columbus where I'm from the only way we get these boutique things is in Macy's or Nordstroms, maybe even Saks Fifth Ave if we're lucky even then it's predominantly women's. With that being said if a guy is mature enough to wear jeans that fit (that doesn't men skinny jeans, which I personally hate...lol) along with a $200 shirt that isn't a graphic T. Don't ask if he's a metro respect the mans since of class after all @ what age should a grown man look like one??????
